Roger Oberg Roger Oberg, senior vice president of marketing, is responsible for Veracode’s market driven strategies and facilitating their cross-functional execution. Veracode marketing efforts seek to enhance and leverage the company’s innovative security-as-a-service and patented ability to analyze completed applications without source code to simplify the acquisition and dissemination of application risk management services across large enterprises and their 3rd party software suppliers. Roger brings a wealth of software marketing, sales, engineering and general management experience to Veracode from more than 20 years with innovative application development and software infrastructure companies including IBM, Rational, TIBCO, and Spotfire. Before joining Veracode, Roger was Chief Marketing Officer for Spotfire and the Spotfire division of TIBCO, helping it adopt market-driven practices and grow its visionary enterprise analytics platform business before and after acquisition. Prior to that he spent 10 years with Rational Software, the last 2 and a half years as vice president of global Strategy and Marketing for IBM’s Rational division. There he helped to shape the vision and educate the market on IBM’s platform for governing the business process of software and systems delivery. At Rational, he was also general manager for the Rational Rose business unit for 3 years as it became the defacto standard UML software modeling product. As general manager his responsibilities included all development, QA, product management, and product marketing for Rose. Before Rose, he was general manager of the Rational Requirements Management business unit as RequisitePro became the fastest growing and market leading Windows-based requirements management product. While there he co-authored with Maria Ericsson and Leslie Probasco an often cited white paper on applying requirements management with use cases. Roger joined Rational when the company acquired Requisite, where he was vice president of Sales and Marketing, contributing to its rapid growth and acquisition. Prior to Requisite, Roger was vice president of marketing and then vice president of engineering for XVT, a cross-platform GUI development tool later merged into Peregrine. He has served as an outside director for two software start-ups, and began his career in software and systems sales, sales management, and sales training with NBI. Born in Brazil, Roger has lived in Oslo, Norway, Toronto, Canada, and Boulder, Seattle, Boston, and Texas. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Michigan. |
